Q: Is this an official GNOME Shell group? A: No, this is a group setup by a third party user(me, though I do contribute to GNOME) and not endorsed by GNOME. Q: Is GNOME Shell stable? A: Yes, GNOME Shell is now classed as a stable release. Q: What version is GNOME Shell currently at? A: 3.4 Q: What does GNOME Shell use to do it's themes? A: GNOME Shell uses CSS3 for the actual theme design and javascript for the layout. Q: GNOME Shell, GNOME 3, what's the difference? A: GNOME Shell is the desktop shell and GNOME 3 is the underline technology, libraries and applications of the GNOME Desktop Environment. Q: Will Metacity window themes from GNOME2 work with GNOME 3? A: Yes but there is no UI to change them as yet. you can use the gconf-editor to change them and put the themes in ~/.themes.
